When using our self-scheduling app, picking the right option is critical to us being able to prepare appropriately for your pet's individual health issue.
We have tried to break options down into categories that provide us with the information we need to ensure we have on-hand anything we may need to provide care to your valued family member at the time of our visit. If you don't see a general appointment option that fits what you need, please let us know. If it's an option we feel isn't represented, we'd prefer to add it for future bookings.
In the moments before our appointment, it's best to make sure your pet is ready and available for their exam. For instance, if you have been previously prescribed anti-anxiety meds to assist in comforting them during our visits, it is best to give those a minimum of 2-3 hours before our visit.
For cats, placing them comfortably in an easily accessible space like a bathroom (where they can't disappear under a bed or into a corner) about 10-30 minutes before the visit will ensure they can actually be seen at the designated time. A favorite bed with favorite toys will also help reinforce that this action is not to be feared.
Some dogs may need a walk/ playtime (depending on reason for appt) prior to their appointment to work off some excess excitement.
We travel with many medication options to treat a variety of illnesses. Of course, you are always welcome to get any prescriptions filled where you prefer. But, please don't assume ours are the most expensive, most of the time we're fairly competitive. Give us a chance to provide those items to you at the time of service so you don't have to do extra work!
As a reminder, any issues you may encounter with using our scheduling app can be addressed with a live person here in Sacramento. Just give us a call at (916) 545-1595. Please don't struggle in frustration, we're happy to assist you.
Sometimes, a pet just isn't in the mood to complete an exam on their doctor's schedule. When that happens, a fear free doctor will allow the pet room to acclimate, rather than force the pet to comply against their will, like some clinics or doctors.
Sometimes, that acclimation includes stopping altogether and rebooking to complete the exam. A happy pet whose needs are respected creates a better long-term relationship between your pet and their doctor. Your pet will no longer fear their doctor, because they learn very quickly that their doctor will allow them time for buy-in and agreement.
