Mobile Veterinary Care They're Happy To See!

Welcome Waggin' Logo

About Welcome Waggin'

Welcome Waggin' was born out of need in just a couple days. Dr. Sara worked for a national mobile veterinary service who, without warning to employees or clients, came back from a weekend and announced their immediate closure via email. In an effort to take care of her clients who had already booked appointments for the next few following weeks, Dr. Sara scrambled to ensure the legal and safe continued care for those affected. All the local, state, and federal paperwork needed was completed, submitted, and approved in just a couple of days and those clients were ensured proper and continued care. Through her sleepless work over those first few critical days of unemployment, her patients continued to receive the care and medications they needed and their owners were given a way to continue with the doctor they'd grown to love, all with minimal disturbance to their already existing appointments and routines.

That level of care and attention goes into every visit. Every pet deserves an advocate- someone rooting for their health and well-being- like Dr. Sara. Every owner deserves the level of information and knowledge shared about their pet's care provided by Dr. Sara in each visit and beyond.

Because of those founding clients who were helped initially, we service virtually all of the greater Sacramento region. We have many clients who've chosen to follow Dr. Sara currently living in Roseville/ Granite Bay/ Citrus Heights, El Dorado Hills/ Folsom/ Orangevale, Fair Oaks/ Carmichael/ Arden- Arcade, Pocket/ Land Park/ East Sacramento, and many points in between.

About Dr. Sara

Dr. Sara Cobos graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2019, with a special emphasis on both pet behavior and pet nutrition. During her studies, UC Davis VetMed was named the #1 veterinary school in the world throughout all four of her years attending.

Following graduation, she worked as a veterinarian in the same clinic she previously worked at as a veterinary tech because they knew her, knew her commitment, and loved her. She enjoyed her time there but wanted to search for an outlet where she could perform medicine the way she learned was best for her patients.

After a few years, she joined a mobile practice where she could relate with owners on a more one-on-one level, without as much corporate interference or time constraints. And then after a few years, as start-ups sometimes do, poof- they were gone. And so, the concept of Welcome Waggin' was born.

Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Sara presided over UC Davis VetMed's Orphan Kitten Project- where health care and adoption was managed and provided by future vets, with fostering assistance from volunteers, for kittens in need and is where two of her personal kitties come from. Even further back, she volunteered with Wildlife Care Association in Sacramento and PAWS Wildlife in the Seattle, Washington area, learning about caring for the health and well-being of wildlife including bears, raccoons and squirrels, as well as hawks, eagles, egrets, crows and a multitude of other avian species. She has also completed externships with The Wildlife Center of Virginia and the USDA.

She is an avid proponent of Fear Free medicine (having seen the benefits repeatedly through behavioral improvements and responses in her patients) and it's the only method she teaches and allows for her assistants to help care for your companion pets. ... On a personal note

Dr. Sara is originally from the Seattle, WA area, where she met her husband. After already knowing each other for a couple years, one of their first "official date"s was venturing to Washington, D.C. together to witness the historically significant first swearing-in of President Obama with tickets her future husband (a bit of a political junkie) received from a WA state Representative. She lives in the Sacramento area with him and their four cats, who all share their own dedicated outdoor catio where they love to take afternoon naps and spend time watching birds and feeling the wind. It's more like a fully enclosed patio, where Dr. Sara and her husband can sit with the cats and enjoy the weather and some wine (the humans, not the cats!).

The oldest was found at about 1-2 years old, wandering alone in the UC Davis arboretum and, after fruitless searching for an owner, became a sibling to then-solo Max, a black Labrador Retriever who sadly passed away six months later. The youngest was abandoned as a kitten at Dr. Sara's clinic and ended up needing a temporary home. The middle two, mentioned prior, were kitten fosters who needed specialized medical attention during her tenure as head of Orphan Kitten Project and just never left, becoming family somewhere along their healing journeys. Her husband was adamant that the limit was two, but the last two have become more attached to him anyway so it's really his fault...

Aside from her kitties and her husband, she enjoys things she can do with either or both of them- reading, Napa wine tasting, watching movies, board games. The cats are avid board gamers. Well, swatting the pieces or laying on the boards anyway.
